Commemorating the massacre of Burundian youth
It was bitterly cold, typically Canadian… The snow fell softly, covering the exiles of heart and conscience, wrapped in heavy coats, woollen caps and scarves to hide their faces, their pain and their tears…
Many of us were there to commemorate our children, our brothers, our sisters… our youth murdered by a bloodthirsty, tyrannical regime.
In front of the symbol of Canadian democracy, the Parliament of Canada, we wept, we expressed words of condolence, we prayed ardently. But most importantly, we individually and collectively pledged that, in memory of these sacrificed youth, we will STAND UP to the evil that is ravaging our nation of Burundi.
