Dear members,
Once again, we would like to wish you an excellent 2018. 2017 was an eventful year and we can be proud of the strides we’ve made. Our recent achievements since November 2017 include among others:
CBA membership of the Canadian Council for Refugees (November 14)
An information session dedicated to newcomers (November 17, 2017)
Meetings by sector – “Tuyage, la parole est à vous!” campaign (Continued)
CBA participation in the Canadian Council for Refugees national consultations (Niagara Falls) (Nov. 30-Dec. 2)
A day for Human Rights: Co-organization of an activity dedicated to Human Rights with the Montreal Holocaust Museum (December 10)
A special day of lobbying federal ministers and elected officials to promote the defense of human rights and advocate for Burundian refugees (December 14)
2018 promises to be a promising year, as we begin to see the results of what we have sown. But, we can do more and reach another level. This will be part of the discussion at our general meeting which is scheduled for February 24, 2018 at 14:00. In the meantime, below are the activities that will keep us busy in the coming days:
An information session on sponsorship and humanitarian cases
Meetings by sector – “Tuyage, la parole est à vous!” campaign (January 26-February 10)
Participation in the Citizens’ Forum (Brussels, February 16-18)
CBA Annual General Meeting (Ottawa – Gatineau Branch) (February 24, 2018) PLEASE SAVE THE DATE
- A Burundian cultural evening in collaboration with other community groups in the region (March 17, 2018) PLEASE BOOK THE DATE
- Lobbying the authorities to help our new refugees and promote the defense of human rights in Burundi (ongoing)
